  • Working on going food dye free for the girls and I. SERIOUSLY HARD WORK!!!! Why must they put dye in white marshmallows and pickles? I really wouldn't mind marshmallows that looked a little less white and the tastiest pickles I've ever had were homemade ones that were not a brilliant limey green...

I'm allergic to artificial color, so you're singing my song! Beware of berry/cherry flavored sodas and canned teas too. Yogurts are AWFUL with artificail dyes. Pretty much ANYTHING fruit flavored foods that are not ACTUAL fresh/frozen fruit...See more

      • Katrina Larson My niece is adhd, as well as O.D.D. She is allergic to red dye for sure...but the dr suspects that some of her behavior issues are elevated due to issues caused by other dye's.

Right now there is a lot of discussion around the science of food dyes. Do artificial colors contribute to hyperactivity in kids? Are food dyes responsible for ADHD? Is it the government’s job to take these dyes out of our kids’ foods or is it ours?

      • Angi Nicholas I like how it showsh the nutri-grain bars.. blueberry and strawberry each have a food dye # whatever, but the apple one uses caramel color.. what's the difference? is it still as bad as the #'d dyes?

      • Molly J. Orman its different. The # dyes are petroleum based whereas the caramel color is browned sugar but it can be turned brown with heat or with possibly carcinogenic chemicals and they're not required to say which kind they use.
